Kekya Classic #8 avec Daft Punk (aka Indo Silver Club aka Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo + Thomas Bangalter). Revenons 13 ans en arrière, en 1995, sous l’excellent label Soma, le duo au background hard-tech-rave sort un 12″ intitulé “Da Funk” qui renferme le mondialement connu “Da Funk” mais aussi une bombe : “Rollin’ & Scratchin’“. Deux ans plus tard, en 1997, ils sortent le légendaire “Homework” en double LP, qu’ils n’arriveront (selon moi) jamais a égaler. A noter que leur vrais débuts remonte en 1994 avec la sortie de “The New Wave“, toujours chez Soma, un 12″ emprunt de minimalisme hard-tech avec une pointe d’acide, qu’on retrouvera plus tard dans certains titres de “Homework” notemment.

Un bootleg c’est l’art de mixer deux morceaux pour en faire un troisième (c’est un peu comme mélanger du Tang avec de la bière). Cette technique peut aussi être appelée mashup, dont les 2 Many DJs se sont fait les portes-parole avec leur série des “Radio Soulwax“.
La plupart du temps cela consiste a prendre l’instrumentation d’un titre et le caler sur la partie vocale d’un second mais parfois on assiste à des mélanges complètements malades de trois, quatre, cinq, voir six titres pour un même mashup.
Certains artistes à l’image des 2 Many DJs s’en sont fait une spécialité dont voici un petit florilège…

Kekya Classic #7 avec The Horrorist (aka Oliver Chesler). On va s’attaquer à du lourd, du violent, du sombre, à quelquechose de froid, sanglant, du hardcore ! Et pour l’occasion on va même se faire un 2 pour 1 ! The Horrorist (qui s’est exilé en Allemagne) est un personnage fort de la scène techno/hardcore/EBM, et ses shows vous marquent à vie. En 1996 il sort sous son propre label, Things To Come Records, un album 12″ intitulé “One Night in N.Y.C.” qui renferme deux bombes de techno/hardcore : “One Night in N.Y.C.” et “Flesh is the Fever“. Deux titres que l’on pouvait souvent entendre en “Free Party” (Rave) à la bonne époque de ce genre de party et ça fesait son effet… que de souvenirs ! The Horrorist est d’ailleurs lui aussi dans le Blog-Jeu et opère sur son excellent blog “Wire To The Ear“.
